Context

Supervises work of ≥5 direct reports with different activities in nature and objective, that require bachelor/master thinking level and are mainly high job grade level stakeholders, with a total scope of more than 50 people.

Responsible for multiple and diverse/complex work centers, competences or shifts with a larger technical scope or complex cross-sector stakeholder field. The activities managed are generally different in nature and objective.

Coordinates activities that require academic (at least Bachelor) working and thinking level. Own work requires academic working and thinking level, is complex in nature and requires collaboration with experts from other disciplines both inside and outside own department.

Requirements

Master degree with deep/extensive experience or equivalent working and thinking level.

Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short to medium timescales within the overall policy framework.

Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment

Check compliance to procedures and guidelines regarding quality, safety and health across areas and teams, not limited to own area / team, register performed checks and submit (defect) reports where necessary and/or take action in order to comply. Encourages safety mindset and acts as role model to others in regard to health and safety and holds others accountable. Follow the organization's HS&E policies, procedures and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate risks, and to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.

Responsible for Health & Safety with factory-wide impact and proactively connects with other factories to exchange knowledge and best practices.

People management and development

Responsible for directly managing Team Leaders , teams and individual contributors.

Improves performance and engagement of own teams. Responsible for supporting the wellbeing of their teams, creating diverse and inclusive environment for the workforce. Identifies and grows high potential employees, key experts. Develops direct reports by coaching them, assigning new tasks, guides on skills and knowledge development.

Leads and improves the team into the right capabilities and right skills to meet mid to long-term business requirements. Ensures retention and development of critical knowledge and capabilities within functional area.

Realization

Direct and drive the realization of planned results and of departmental contributions to cross-sector projects, monitor and decide on allocation of finances to remain within budget restrictions (capex/large investments, opex, labor hours) in line with business priorities.

Is accountable for the planning of the work in the factory operations and the planning and delivery of cross-sector projects.

Establishes the mid to long-term capacity needs (up to 2 year planning) and make timely resourcing and feasability decisions to meet future projections.

Propose and establish and realize department KPIs in line with sector priorities and strategic roadmaps. Analyze KPI progress and make improvements to mitigate risks.

Continuous Improvement

Review existing operations (L4/L3 level) in a major area of work and implement innovation processes to generate new ideas and ensure the required continuous improvement outcomes are delivered.

Translates CI to business impact (including integral approach of financial impact across sectors) and aligns the CI portfolio towards the strategic direction of the factory.

Fosters a CI culture within the own team. Challenges the teams on their problem solving approach and to think outside the box when identifying CI opportunities.

Management information

Provides insights, analyses, trends, issues, etc. on operational/tactical and team performance towards tiers and management structures.

Provides actionable proposals, implement solutions and get approval if necessary.

Stakeholder Management

Builds and maintains a complex and dynamic network of in- and external stakeholders/partners (typically including managers of own and interfacing departments up to Senior level stakeholders) and represents the organization (own organization as well as +1 on topics ranging from operational to tactical level).

Explains and convinces internal and external parties beyond content-driven arguments and is able to appeal to others' interest, motives, culture, etc. Is well-versed in negotiation tactics and able to influence others and decisions outside own span of control. Frequently reflects on stakeholder feedback to drive a continuously improving organisation.

Annual plan / budget

Cascade strategic and operational targets into plans with 2-3 year horizon, identify bottlenecks and drive mitigations/solutions. Accountable for realization of plans within timing and budget constraints. Manage and acquire approval for planned deviations.

Strategy and policy

Contribute to the development of the strategy on the next level and translates into annual operational and long term capability plan for own organization unit.

Analyzes current and future state of the operations and performance of the own organization unit and drives improvement projects. Makes proposals and contributes to strategic improvement projects within and beyond the scope of the own organization unit.

Evaluate organization design and implement changes to ensure an effective, (cost) efficient, aligned and reliable department.
