Introduction to the job

As a financial controller, you will focus on executing and optimizing the accounting and reporting processes of ASML's activities in an effective and efficient way in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.  

You will be part of our Finance Operations department and together with your team, you will be jointly responsible for the accounting, analysis, and reporting relating to ASML's worldwide accounting activities for revenues, inventory/costing or SG&A. As ASML has major activities in Asia, USA and to a lesser extent Europe, you will work together with other teams across the world. In this function, it is key to align with a lot of stakeholders to ensure proper external and managerial reporting. Furthermore, you will work in a dynamic and internationally oriented environment with tight deadlines, direct impact on ASML’s financial results and a variety of growth opportunities within the organization.

Role and responsibilities

You will join the Finance Operations Europe team, which is part of ASML Business Services (ABS). The Finance Operations team is responsible for the accounting of the financials, performing internal controls, providing valuable data insights, narrating the story behind the numbers and driving improvements that really make a difference. You’ll be reporting to the team leader of one of the Finance Operations groups and collaborating with other (finance) departments and external partners, like auditors. Your contributions will help shape the future of our finance operations department and play a vital role in driving ASML's success.

In this role, you will:

  • Take ownership for the processing and automation of the sales, inventory or SG&A activities and ensure proper and timely internal and external reporting in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS revenue recognition guidance (ASC606 / IFRS15)
  • Act as first contact person and business process expert within finance for the activities towards business counterparts within e.g., Business Lines, Business Control, Sales Control, Order Management Desk, etc.
  • Provide insightful reporting and analysis to our business (control) counterparts and support on accounting topics
  • Drive improvement initiatives in the area of accounting, reporting and transactional processes and work closely with Asia and USA teams here
  • Execution and improvement of our internal control framework and SOX controls for the applicable customer service processes
  • Develop and demonstrate strong understanding of the business processes, reflected in the reports, analysis and commentaries provided to business counterparts within Customer Service, Business Lines, Business Control, etc.

Education and experience

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Academic degree in accounting, finance and/or business economics; CPA/RA degree is an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in a finance role
  • Knowledge and experience with US GAAP and IFRS
  • Knowledge of LEAN and affinity with end-to-end process optimization
  • Affinity with internal controls, SOx, reporting, data analytics and continuous monitoring
  • Experience with SAP ECC
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Spotfire and RPA is a pre
