Introduction to the job

We are looking for a Cost Engineer to support Project Managers, Program Managers and Business Partners in budget forecasting and reporting, implementing cost management standards and procedures, as well as data analysis.
 

You will be part of the CRE (Corporate Real Estate) Business Support Office and work closely with the Project Management team. The Project Management team is responsible for brown and green field construction and renovation projects which are executed in several programs. The projects you will be working on will vary in scale from simple fit-out and upgrade projects, to multi-million, multidisciplinary, technical complex new factories. 

 

Role and responsibilities

In this role you will be working under the responsibility of our Senior Cost Managers.  In this position you will be learning on the job, with the goal of becoming a Cost Manager, which means that in time you should develop the skills to work independent and take on responsibilities such as: 

  • Estimating and cost control for our projects,

  • Support the Program Managers and Project Managers during the initiation phase, by preparing initial project budget estimates in order for them to make investment decisions.  

  • Advise the project manager during the design phase on changes, risks, and value engineering opportunities as the specifications and design develop. 

  • Prepare RFQ documentation and report on tender analysis in collaboration with the Project manager and Purchasing manager. 

  • Monitor contractor financial progress in the execution stage, and check cashflow forecasts and invoicing 

  • Coordinating work of external costs consultants hired on major projects 

  • Maintain and expand the cost database by preparing project close out reports and engaging in deep dives to investigate cost drivers, compare projects, build a rate library and find means to further optimize capex expenditure. 

  • Drafting Early Estimates 

  • Support Tendering 

  • Support Cost Control and Change Control 

  • Prepare Cashflow Prognosis 

  • Project data analysis and tool implementation and maintenance: Benchmarking, Rate library, Parametric estimating  

 

Education and experience
To help us tackle the challenges we face, you’ll need experience working as a cost engineer. As cost engineer, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s/Masters degree in an engineering discipline 

  • Preferable three to five years’ cost engineering experience as a consultant 

  • Strong IT and data skills, including MS Project, Microsoft Excel and preferably experience with Power BI and programming apps 

  • Knowledge of project management methods and basic understanding of cost management methods 
     

Skills

  • Strong IT and data skills, including MS Project, Microsoft Excel and preferably experience with Power BI and programming apps 

  • Full working proficiency in Dutch language.

  • Open mindset, and willingness to do more with data 

  • Ability to present technical and financial information in simple, non-technical terms 

  • Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute 

  • A team player with a ‘can-do’ attitude 

  • A self-starter

The department Corporate Real Estate (CRE) is the Landlord of all ASML offices and industrial sites worldwide. We facilitate ASML employees, our factories, customers, suppliers and visitors to provide optimal working conditions in a safe and comfortable environment. The Corporate Real Estate Organization is responsible for new build, rebuild, operation and maintenance of the ASML infrastructure, installations and buildings. 
 

Location: Veldhoven

We are open to candidates who are available for a minimum of 32 hours per week.
